The District 9 H.S. senior girls basketball all-star game was played at Miami East on Wednesay, March 22. Lady Pirates Jade Copas and Ayva Stewart played in the game. It was a great game, and although their team lost 68-65 in overtime, both girls did a great job and represented Riverside very well.
Congratulations to Leah Burden and Brooklyn Valmore for be select by Mr. Huber to be the Art representatives at this years Honda Breakfast. They both have created several amazing pictures this year in art. Leah is a 4th art student and Brooklyn is a 3rd year art student. If you would like see more of their art they will be on display at All County Art and Music Festival April 14th at the Holland Theater and the Riverside 5-12 Art Show on May 3rd at Riverside.
On March 23, 2023 Ohio Excels sponsored the "Literacy Matters: Shaping the Future for Ohio Students" event at the Athletic Club of Columbus. Participants included Ohioโs Governor Mike DeWine, Ohio Interim State Superintendent Dr. Stephanie Siddens, various state representatives, and educators from around the state. Mrs. Ellie Johnson and Ms. Margo Shipp represented Riverside Local Schools on a five-member panel that shared the story of Riversideโs journey to learn and implement The Science of Reading methodology for reading instruction.

The Riverside Manufacturing Classes will be doing thier first fundraiser this week. The students will be selling gourmet popcorn through the Double Good App. Double Good is an all virtual platform for you to order your popcorn from. A student that you would like to purchase from will have a link to thier own store and from there you can order whatever flavors you would like and have it shipped directly to you. This is an ALL VIRTUAL fundraiser. There will be no exchange of cash between buyers and sellers. Double Good will give us 50% of what we make in the earnings! This money will be used for our Skills USA orginization to go to state, regional, and other events. The sale starts tonight at 5:00 PM and ends this Friday at 5:00 PM. We are learning it pays to manage your money wisely ๐ Avery, Madilyn, Sophia, and Gabe are all grins after cashing in their money to buy some of the more expensive prizes. It took awhile saving the money they earned but they were able to purchase the prizes they really wanted!
Today was the Freshman Poetry Slam! The students create their poems, then practice all week. Surprise Staff Judges join them, and they perform for over-all points. They can win as an over-all team, or as an individual. Pictured are the staff judges and class winners.
Liam the Leprechaun visited our classroom today! He left his shoes, socks, hat, letter, a pot of gold, and a delicious treat!!
Kaleb Schindewolf represented Riverside at the Senior of the Month Luncheon sponsored by the Bellefontaine Kiwanis club.
Riverside Local Schools received a $700 grant from United Way of Logan County. The grant was used to purchase feminine products and dispensers for Riverside Students. Dispensers were installed in the Middle School and High School girlโs restrooms for use as needed at no cost to them.

The 2023 JH Ohio Model United Nations (OMUN) Education Contest took place earlier this week in Columbus. Through the process of role-playing, Riverside JH students became delegates of Switzerland in order to write, present and debate issues affecting the nations and peoples of the world. Riverside students presented culturally based talent, participated in global education contests and debated current global issues. Riverside students influenced countries to adopt Swiss green roofs to reduce energy waste and also to adopt a neutral foreign policy regarding the war in Ukraine during United Nations resolution debates. Morgan Shockey earned an Leadership Excellence Award, while the entire team won the Outstanding Cultural Award due to displaying an accurate cultural, political and historical representation of Switzerland. Congrats to Riverside's JH OMUN!
On Monday, Miss Avery and Sebastian both visited the art show. They were excited for their loved ones to see their creations! They also enjoyed their "royalties" for making an appearance at the art show. ๐๐๐ฐโค๏ธ๐
On Tuesday, March 14th, Mrs. Easton's and Ms. Cotterman's 1st graders sang and then read poems and a story during the Senior Citizens' luncheon. โค๏ธโ๏ธ๐
